Minister of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E Abdullah Shahid attended Berlin Climate and Security Conference on 4 June 2019 hosted by the German Federal Foreign Office, in partnership with adelphi and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).
At the conference Minister Shahid discuss the growing risks that climate change presents for peace and security for smaller nations such as the Maldives, and the need for quick and decisive action to prevent and minimise climate-related conflict and instability locally and globally. Minister Shahid also addressed about the previous efforts the Government of Maldives has exerted to minimize the risks involved in this matter.
