President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Mr. Ahmed Latheef as Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Federal Republic of Germany and presented him with the letter of credence at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon.
The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Ahmed Latheef began his Foreign Service career in 1981 and served at different posts in the area of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In this regard, Mr. Ahmed Latheef served as the first Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of China in 2007 and held tenure for 5 consecutive years. The last post he served before the ambassadorship was as the Director General of Transition appointed by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Ambassador Latheef will succeed, Ambassador Jameela Ali Khalid, the first resident Ambassador of Maldives to Germany.
A resident Embassy of Maldives was established in Berlin on March 2016
